POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance supervisor; the Maintenance Technician I will be responsible for and accountable for preventative maintenance of all property facilities.  They will also follow all rules and standards as set forth by Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all times operating principles are being adhered to:
    • Safety-We want all guest and team members to be protected from danger, risk, or injury. If you see something, say or do something. Follow all safety policies and procedures.
    • Cleanliness-Keep all areas clean and pristine. If there is something that needs special attention, we should contact the appropriate department (housekeeping, marine, maintenance, beverage, etc.)
    • Friendly/Helpful- Always be on the lookout for guest who may need assistance. Whenever possible, we want to try to answer questions and assist the guest. In certain cases, we may need to contact another team member.
    • Positive Attitude and Having Fun- Be interactive with all internal and external guests and other team members while maintaining professional standards and a positive attitude. Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and welcoming attitude
  • Basic Knowledge of the HVAC system, alarm system, and generators.
  • Identify and diagnose deficiencies with the system and take measures to correct deficiencies.
  • Identify the need for and perform mid-level to advanced level painting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and other projects related to maintenance of the property.
  • Ability to perform mid-level to advance painting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and other projects relating to maintenance of the property.
  • Assist with creating preventative maintenance schedule and follow such schedule.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all guests and employees; maintain a pleasant, friendly and welcoming attitude.
  • Complete knowledge of all facilities and entertainment available to guest.
  • Construction and renovation projects as needed
  • Landscape and grounds projects as needed.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing these job duties, the employee is regularly required to:
    • Stand, walk, sit; use hands to move fingers, handle, and/or feel; and talk and/or hear;
    • Reach with hands and arms, with repetitive wrist movement when working computers or office equipment;
    • Ability to observe and have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral visions with depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
    • Normal daily physical activity included within a 8-10 hour work day may include Sitting and Keyboarding, Standing, & Walking.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds or more.
    • Exposure to various chemicals used in the maintenance of property.
    • May work in a moderate to loud noise level, and smoke filled environment when on the Casino floor that may be located on a boat and/or floating barge.
    • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and close space while working with others.
    • Exposure to various chemicals used in the maintenance of property.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Certification in trade (if applicable)
  • Three to five years’ experience in facilities maintenance and two plus years in the Maintenance Technician I position or a combination of education/experience
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company requirements relative to the operation of automobiles, electric, or gas powered carts, electric or gas powered sweeper equipment, and man lifts.
  • Regular attendance with flexibility in scheduling while maintaining an upbeat attitude.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain any licenses, permits, insurance, or indemnifications necessary for the completion of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position, or for the protection of the Company’s assets, employees, or patrons.
  • All other job duties as assigned

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) with co-workers, patrons, and management in order to safely and efficiently accomplish the various duties and assignments associated with this position.
  • Ability to use all necessary tools and equipment to perform maintenance functions
  • Maintaining interpersonal working relationships among all personnel. Answer all calls promptly and maintain politeness; pay attention to the needs of employees and guests at all times.
  • Knowledge of OSHA required standards and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressure in an interruptive environment.
  • Must have steel or safety toed (ASTM F2413-05 175/C75) shoes.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • The position is responsible to the maintenance manager and/or supervisor for the successful performance of assigned duties.

EQUIPMENT/TECHNICAL

  • Ability to operate all equipment associated with the position, including, but not limited to, the following:
    • Operate all types of hand tools, power tools, and machinery that relate to the function of a maintenance shop.
    • Chemicals used in maintenance. Ladders, bucket truck, forklift, and safety equipment.
